"I have been a foster carer with Parallel Parents for 10 years now, I cannot recommend them highly enough! From the start I was made to feel very welcome and at ease with the process. They are not pushy in any way and are very informative. The training they provide is so beneficial, listening to all the other carers with their own experiences really helps. Parallel Parents run support groups, coffee mornings, well organised activities for all the children, provide all children with a gift at Christmas as well as their foster carers. In addition to the extra we receive for respite and also extra seasonal allowances. We can progress onto other things like support workers and social workers with lots of encouragement from the management team. The support we receive is second to none, they really are there for us 24/7. Both children and foster carers know all of the Social workers so we aren't visited by numerous unknown people. We are all part of a team and very valued as individuals. Being a family run agency really makes a big difference. Everyone is treated with the respect and gratitude they deserve. I could not ask for anything more! No wonder they have been granted outstanding with Ofsted for so long, well deserved too, thank you to everyone at Parallel Parents for helping me become the foster carer I am today!"

"Had just an initial visit. The lady who came brought a current foster carer with her. They stayed less than 20 minutes and concluded as we didn't have our own children then we couldn't be good enough foster parents and that I was to get a job in a nursery to get experience with children and contact them again in 2 years. We were looking to foster up to 14 years old so not sure how work in a nursery would help with that. We didn't let this experience put us off and we went to TACT fostering and adoption agency in Leeds. Our initial visit lasted 3 hours as opposed to the 20 minutes this agency stayed and they were positive throughout. We have just been approved at panel as foster carers and my friend was going to enquire with this agency about fostering and I strongly advised her against it and recommended her to TACT."
