Thinking about fostering?
Are you interested in fostering?
- Do you want to make a real difference for children in the UK?
- Would you value full training, guidance and 24/7 support?
- Do you have a caring home and the time to nurture a child?
What is fostering?
Fostering means giving a safe, stable home to children who cannot live with their birth families. Carers support them short-term or long-term while local authorities work toward the best plan for each child.
As a foster carer you’ll work closely with social workers, schools and health professionals — providing consistency, care and a voice for every child.
Fostering is UK-based — you’ll need to live in the United Kingdom.
Who can foster?
- Singles, couples and families from all backgrounds.
- You don’t need to own your home — a spare bedroom is essential.
- Age 21+ with time, stability and compassion to care for a child.
- Openness to checks, references and training.
Support, training & allowances
- Initial and ongoing training tailored to your needs.
- Regular supervision, peer support and 24/7 helpline.
- Weekly fostering allowance and expenses (varies by placement).
- Clear guidance throughout assessment and beyond.
The steps to become a foster carer
